ABOUT TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

Transport for London (TfL) is a local government body responsible for the transport system in London. They run the day-to-day operation of the Capital's public transport network and manage London's main roads.

CHALLENGES

TfL had created an ERP strategy based on SAP’s end-of-life for SAP ERP of 2025 driven from an IT perspective. TfL needed to review the strategy against the revised SAP support deadline and to review whether it was able to support the TfL business through 2030 and beyond. In addition, TfL are subject to OJEU regulations so any procurement associated with the ERP strategy must be compliant.

RESULTING SOLUTION

TfL engaged Resulting to perform the review for presentation at CxO level. Resulting’s approach was to engage with the Procurement, Finance & HR elements of the TfL business to both play back the existing ERP strategy and to enable the Business to feedback on the strategy and to express additional requirements/preferences since its creation. Resulting also advised a OJEU-compliant procurement strategy to enable TFL to procure software and services in the most efficient way

BENEFITS DELIVERED

TfL's business areas are now more fully engaged and supportive of the ERP strategy as it is no longer an IT document. The ERP strategy is now a joint Business/IT-led which will ensure that Business requirements drive the ERP strategy, ensuring that appropriate best-practice is adopted, product selection considers functional, technical and commercial factors and enables better user adoption throughout the programme.
