ABOUT MAERSK OIL

Maersk Oil is an international oil and gas company owned by the A. P. Moller-Maersk Group. They operated production of 550,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Production comes from Denmark, the UK, Qatar, Kazakhstan, the US Gulf of Mexico, Algeria and Brazil. Exploration activities are on-going in Angola, Norway, Greenland, Kurdistan Region of Iraq and in the producing countries.

CHALLENGES

With a steep fall in oil prices, Maersk Oil needed to establish financial control over both capital and operating expenditure in order to meet production targets. A Governance structure had to be put into place for all SAP projects so demand and deployments could be delivered in a disciplined fashion.

This became even more imperative as the CFO was focussed in making SAP the solution of choice for all operating processes, (Procurement, Maintenance and Logistics).

RESULTING SOLUTION

After successfully establishing a SAP PMO, Resulting have continued to work with the Maersk Oil SAP Management team to provide independent advice and guidance on a number of projects across the SAP landscape.

Resulting have also reviewed and implemented controls in projects that have overrun to mitigate the budget and timeline exposure to Maersk Oil.
